The weather that you can expect for your holiday at Mission Beach will be something that replicates the most perfect postcard. Being in the tropics, Mission Beach has a monsoonal or "Wet Season" from January to May when most of the 3000mm of rain per year falls. A time that is both hot and wet! The "Dry Season", in particular June to September is much like a northern hemisphere summer with warm sunny days and cool nights. The perfect water temperatures throughout the year make it great for all water sports especially for those who are travelling to Mission Beach for the spectacular diving and snorkelling that you can experience just off shore. The Great Barrier Reef lies just off the coastline and with many tours and charters travelling out every day you can dive in crystal clear waters where the visibility is always fantastic. The rainforests brings a cooling change, with the thick dense cover of the tree tops and gentle breezes you can easily escape the hot weather in here. So why don’t you organise to do a rainforest walk or guided walk to discover the array of flora and fauna in the area. With the mysterious Cassowary being spotted you might get your glimpse at this fascinating creature. During the months of November through to the end of February there is sometimes the threat of cyclones in the area. This being the main cyclone season for far north Queensland it is always good to make sure that you plan ahead. Most cyclones in the area never hit land and always end up going out to sea, but always keep an eye on the weather report if you are travelling between these times.
