Mission Beach boasts some fantastic golf courses that are great for the avid golfer as well as for someone who just wants to enjoy a friendly round of golf with family or friends. Located just over two hours south of Cairns, Mission Beach is fast becoming a very popular holiday destination for people all over Australia and overseas. Over the years the seaside town of Mission Beach has fought the urge to get caught up in the hype of big developments, but it still promises to deliver a holiday like never before. With lush tropical rainforests every way you turn and the Great Barrier Reef right on your doorstep, can you think of a better setting for a great game of golf. Mission Beach holds a number of good public golf courses. The Gordonvale Golf Club which is a little further out of Mission Beach and will take your around one and half hours to get there, is an 18 hole golf course, par 70 and will prove to be well worth the trip. Green fees are extremely reasonable and if you are planning to play on the weekend then you should perhaps book ahead so you don’t miss out! The Babinda Golf Club which is much closer to Mission Beach is a great public golf course offering nine excellent holes to make your way around to, and with it being this length the little ones might like to join in too. The Innisfail Golf Club, El Arish Golf Club and Tully Golf Club are three more of the public courses within the area all of various lengths and quality and all visitors are welcomed and will be offered really cheap green fees. Innisfail Golf Club is quite good with a challenging 9 and composite 18 hole course. No matter which golf course you do decide to play on, as you make your way around you can enjoy a relaxing game of golf as well as take in stunning views. From the engulfing lush tropical rainforest that surround you, you will feel at ease and untroubled as it creates the perfect setting for an afternoon round of golf. The El Arish golf course is about to get some competition from the Thomson Perret designed course amongst the coastal ridges and valleys of South Mission. And then once you have made you way around one of the courses you might like to head back to your accommodation in town where you can find many restaurants, cafes and bars to relax and meet visitors, friends and neighbours. If you need a spot of retail therapy there a numerous shops and galleries. For the more basic needs there is a new major supermarket and specialty shops at Mission Central.
